OUR STORY

— From the Past, in the Present, and into the Future —

Founded in 2013 as the Queer Student Union, the Transgender & Queer Student Union was established to advocate for the rights, health, and well-being of the Cal Poly LGBTQ+ community and to provide a safe space for transgender and/or queer identified individuals.

Today, it strives to make change for the LGBTQ+ community at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and beyond, by uplifting and preserving the experiences of LGBTQ+ students, faculty, and staff.

OUR GOALS

  1. To foster a more equitable, just, vibrant, and representative LGBTQ+ community at Cal Poly.

  2. To educate students on topics related to the LGBTQ+ community.

  3. To increase the retention of LGBTQ+ students, faculty, and staff.

  4. To collaborate with other marginalized groups on campus to end oppression.

  5. To increase and amplify the voice of the LGBTQ+ community.
